Nintendo finally loses money!
Much to everybody’s surprise it looks like the un-stoppable Nintendo finally had a quarter of losses for the first time since 2006. Wii was released to the public back in 2006 and Nintendo rode the wave of success from the wildly popular Wii, but all good things must come to an end eventually and it finally hit Nintendo this quarter with an estimated 288.3 million dollar loss.
At the end of the day though it may seem like a huge chunk for some schmo joe’s like us, but for a company like Nintendo I can’t see it being that big of a deal, nor do I think its going to affect how they continue to do business. The CEO has stated before they knew the Wii’s success would eventually dwindle over time. Plus they get the benefit of knowing that its gross sales has absolutely smashed Microsofts Xbox 360 and Sony’s Playstation 3 in terms of units sold.
The release of Super Mario Galaxy 2 which has already gone quadruple platinum, which probably doesen’t come as a surprise to many of us. Since its release on May 23 2010, the game has sold 4.09 million copies in just the US alone.
What’s the next step for Nintendo? What more do they have to conquer? I grew up playing Nintendo and I loved Zelda and all the classics, despite me not owning a Wii I still have that crazy urge to just go buy one and be a kid all over again.

Unofrtunately for Nintendo, there are only so many casuals in the world.
I always liked the Wii, It separated it self from xbox and PS. and that`s probably why it did as good as it did.
Well its a nice concept. As Trixz said the Wii has its market and large one at that, but its a matter of time before those kids grow up and want more adult themed games etc.
