TinEye Reverse Image Searching

Haven’t you ever had the issue where you find an image and you want to find the same image on its original context or bigger? Well, hopefully that issue should be gone now. TinEye is currently in Open Beta but for the times I’ve used it I have no complaints. It works exceptionally well for being an Open Beta.

TinEye is the first image search engine on the web to use image identification technology rather than keywords, metadata or watermarks. It is completely free. And this concept of coolness appeals to me incredibly.

When you submit an image to be searched, TinEye creates a unique and compact digital signature or ‘fingerprint’ for it, then compares this fingerprint to every other image in our index to retrieve matches. TinEye can even find a partial fingerprint match.

Here are some examples of edited images and finding the originals.

Give it a try, its worth it. You can also get a firefox addon so you can just right click the image and click “search on TinEye.”
I suggest you at least give a try. Works great to find censored pictures.
