Beginners in APB seem to be confused as to the contact unlocking structure of APB. Considerably different from other MMOs, contacts in APB are not unlocked simply by leveling (or increasing the RANK of) one's character. In APB each character has a set number of contacts. As your character builds reputation with these contacts, you will be referred to others. To put this in simple language, each contact will refer you to other contacts after you reach the reputation level of three. These referrals are commonly known as tiers. There are four tiers of contacts for each faction and two ways of progression that must be fulfilled to unlock the last contact. Each group (ie. Bloodroses, Prentiss Tigers) has a tier four contact. This may seem confusing at first but once you begin to unlock contacts you will begin to get a feel for how the system works.

The best way to progress through each contact is too achieve level three with each contact and then complete the final tier. This is the fastest way to achieve the contact unlocks but in this process many excellent weapons will be skipped. For personal enjoyment, it is my opinion that one should look what contact unlocks what weapon/vehicle and at what reputation level. Once this is achieved, consider working towards the next desired weapon or achievement.
