I don't think this will encourage them to change it. I know there are a lot of angry customers, but they know as well as you know that eventually they'll buy the game anyway.

There was a game , and I can't recall what it was. But they changed something and someone started a petition and had well over 100,000 signatures. The game did quite well and outsold more than anyone thought. I actually bought it as well. Same situation here, however I wasn't a huge fan of cod4 so I may rent it for the xbox but not likely the PC.

You can still play with friends. The only thing really different is, for example you can't go, hey let's play on "CP's server" or you can't say meet me in server X. Instead you'll have to view your friends and hit join game.
