    Anyone Else Playing DCUO?

Hey all, I've been looking at DCUO a little bit and it appears to be pretty fun. I was going to wait for reviews before purchasing but on D2D I found a deal for $35 (Promotion Code: WOOTDC) so I caved and bought it today.

Just wanted to let everyone know about that deal and wondering if anyone else has picked up the game and is playing it so we can be on the same server.

EDIT: The code is no longer good.

I was considering it but I have Darkfall to fill my time for now.

Well I just got home and created a character on the Death & Glory PvP server. I'll let you guys know what I think tomorrow.

Well first impression is that this isn't like a normal MMO. You actually need to move around and be a little bit smarter with blocking and use of skills. I'm thinking it was a big mistake to join a PvP server as a hero since it's starting to look like the villains have a much higher population. And after the tutorial any quest area (that isn't an instance) is open to PvP so I was being ganked quite a bit by level 20+ while I was level 5. I can imagine this is only going to get worse once people hit the cap and start getting bored. Since I don't know anyone playing I'll probably switch to a PvE server tonight so at least I can enjoy leveling.

EDIT: Also the UI rivals FFXIV for uselessness. If I switch to a PvE server I'm going to try and use my xbox controller to see if controls are any better than using M+K.

I was tempted to try it out since I have not played a superhero/villain mmo for a long time. Still debating on doing it especially if its 35$ but it would be fun to be on a pvp server on the underpopulated side to have lots of people to fight. I can see the PvE server also being viable so you can play the game. I wonder how long it takes to get to max level.

Max level is only 30, so I wouldn't be surprised when I get home tonight there will already be a big group of level 30's. Mostly I'm thinking about going to a PvE server so I can get the combat down pat before having to worry about be stun-locked to oblivion on the PvP server.

EDIT: The coupon code is no longer good, so it's back up to $50.

    Re: Anyone Else Playing DCUO?

So restarted on a PvE server and it's a lot more fun playing solo (PvP would only be fun if I was grouped up all the time). Hit level 10 and did my 1st group instance (4-man), which was a lot of fun. There is a big lack of communication though do to the clunky console UI port so you kind of need to rely on your teammates being competent players.

Apparently there is a bug that I didn't know about which was causing me to think that the difficulty was pretty high. Sometimes when equipping a new weapon, the weapon doesn't actually register as being equipped causing your attacks to be very weak and losing the ability to use combos. It took me a while to notice this due to me being martial arts specced so having a weapon equipped and being unarmed look the same. Once I figured this out, combat is 100x easier, but still very fun.

Still no idea on if this game will be able to keep my interest long enough for a monthly subscription though.

Which server did you roll on? I have a toon (Singlemalt) on Zero Hour, playing with 3 other friends.
