    Sound card Vs On Board

    Hello,

I know a little about computers. But im thinking of geting a sound card. I have onboard sound now. Is it worth it as far as game sounds. Or would I be better of just sticking with on board.
This is that card im thinking of getting has gotten good reviews and I know people that have it and love it.

Soundcards are generally something people get for FPS and competitive gaming. If you're just looking to play games like GA and MMO's don't waste your money.

That's opinion. I used a onboard 7.1 and thought it sounded great. I actually own the same card your looking at(got it at bestbuy for $160), if you tune it right(tons of options) it sounds hundred time better then on board sound. Even in mmos, there will be sounds you never heard before. +1 also because your cpu is no longer processing sounds, your sound card is, so overall your cpu will be freed up for your game.

I think you just came close to convincing me to buy that card, good sir. xD

The creative series isn't the only decent series, and to add, don't buy it at $160, there are ways to get it much cheaper.

If you have more then 2 speakers its worth getting a nice sound card. They are fairly inexpensive $100.00 or less for a good one. Makes a much nicer playing environment imo.

I used to have four speakers. I probably would buy it somewhere for around 100$ if I wasn't saving for Christmas.
