This match shows an extremely good example of a fast high yield expand against a Terran Mech build.


This is a pro match between Dimaga and PainUser playing as Terran and Zerg. In it we see the Zerg go for a fast expansion to the nearest high yield mineral patch which is pretty uncommon. The Terran does see it and builds Hellions to try and stop it while the Zerg builds Roaches to try to counter them.

The Terran continues to do hit and run attacks on the Zerg bases with his Hellions while the Zerg puts up more expansions and masses more Roaches. PainUser expands himself while massing Siege Tanks and Thors which is a very strong combo against Zerg. The Terran pushes in against the Zerg just as he gets some Infestors, but even with them the Terran army smashes everything in sight.

The Zerg would have been better off just fast expanding to his natural expansion while massing Mutalisks and Speed Zerglings. Infestors with ground units is are not a good enough counter to mass Siege Tanks, you have to beat the Terran before they have enough time to mass a Mech army. Even Ultralisks do not help against the mass Tanks.
