    Effective use of Ghosts?

    So I seem to use all units (for the most part) in a game except for the ghost. I can't ever seem to find a point where I would want some to help in a battle. What uses or situations do you guys use them for or what are some where I can?

    Also what's your best strategy for sneaking in a nuke?

    Ghosts are great agents Protoss Players, EMP grenade, good bye shields. ALso Nukes are fun.

    Ghost = infestor + protoss destroyer. and their snipe. I like to keep my ghost hidden, bring up some army to hide it, and plan a nuke.

    Ideally thats the way to use it as well, its just sometimes games happen so fast you don't even need to bother.

    Agreed!!!! I wouldn't bother with a nuke. Unless you see another player build up an army of like 20+ and moves them to get ready for a rush, but then goes back to macro. Its like a sitting duck. Then I would use the nuke on his army. Would using a nuke on a TvT work to break the Terran wall?

    You need a ghost against protoss! I put at least one in my group of infy.

    Basically EMPs on Protoss and other energy units. Also using Snipe on infestors to break the NP as well as snipe harrassing the drone line works.

    QXC uses ghost for snipe in one of his builds. I would say the main thing i would use them is for a 3 rax build vs protoss. You go maurder ghost marine and before they can get collsi you do a timing push. Everything dies to emp + stim. I have a lot of trouble defending against this build. Its also good cloaked unit to snipe important units like obs or something.

    QXC also experiemented with roach sniping with a mmm ball. Works pretty well if you incoporate cloak and nuke late game. Your mmm ball is fighting his hydra roach. you snipe his roaches then try to nuke his hyrda during the fight. Might work.

    I can use them in every matchup. EMP for toss, and if I get into siege war with a terran I'll use nukes to push the tanks back so I can move out. I also occasionally use them against zerg to snipe blings and keep infestors at bay.

    Here are some ideas and ways I have used ghosts in the past:

    TvP: I think this one is fairly obvious. EMP is hax vs protoss. Not only does it take their shields, using it on templar is almost a necessity unless you are exceptionally good at splitting infantry groups. psi storms will ruin your day if you can't EMP the templar. You can also snipe them if there arent too many, but I'd usually go for EMP since u just want to stop them storming. You can also use EMP to temporarily decloak dark templar and observers.

    TvT: Ghosts have a lot of potential in TvT but people don't use them much. As Kuala said, using nukes to force tank lines back is surprisingly effective, especially if u have a group of marauders with stim ready to snipe the tanks while theyre out of siege mode (about 5 seconds after u place the nuke, do a scan to see if the tanks are moving. If they are, cancel nuke, stim in with rauders and snipe tanks. If not, let the nuke fall). Be careful though, the nuke range is less than the tank range so u could lose your ghost if he scans. The trick is to place the nuke in front of the tanks, so that the ghost stays out of range. EMP can also be used instead of turrets if you fear banshees incoming. You can EMP their energy so they can't cloak (and EMP reveals cloak anyway). Ghosts do retarded damage to light too. You can also EMP orbital commands so they can't scan, but I've never really used this. Could perhaps do a ghost drop and emp the OC before they have any turrets or raven? idk

    TvZ: Never really used them in this match up. I think they can snipe mutalisks pretty well, and banelings and even ultras. I've been thinking lately that using EMP on infestors might be quite effective, as I often lose to baneling muta infestor ling builds. fungal on my marines and baneling rape.

    In general, nukes are better than people realise. Theyre surprisingly cheap. Building 3 nukes at a time is not impractical. You can nuke several spots at once. As you move into late game and it becomes macro heavy with multiple expansions, you can nuke several expansions at once. The player will likely not realise he's being hit by more than 1 nuke. I used to use this alot in TvT.

    I found investing into a ghost or 2 verse a terran thats massing medic/bio works quite nicely to, if your doing the same thing. If you hit their medics it's pretty much a one sided battle, considering both armies are around the same size / upgrades. mind you I don't usually run into situations like that often.
