Not sure how you were going to end that thought, but like I said I have only played the game for a few hours so it may get better (I sure hope it does) but right now the controlling of only 1 character and giving generic commands to the other 2 seems very dumbed down. I personally didn't like the direction the game was going with FFXII with real-time battles and controlling only 1 character at a time; however in that case you were able to give more advanced logic commands to the computer characters and were still able to micro-manage each character if you wanted to do so. Everything in this game so far just seems to me that it is taking portions from previous games like the leveling system of FFX, the battle system from FFXII mixed with the Active Time Battle systems from various FF games and sure you can say streamlining them for the masses, but to me that is synonymous with dumbing down.

And in four hours of playing I haven't once had an issue that I couldn't just bring up the big map to figure out where I should be going. There has been absolutely no exploring of dungeons/world maps (although sadly this seems to not really exist anymore for who knows why) and so far it feels like I am just playing an interactive story with a few breaks here and there to just hit auto-battle every 5 seconds with a change in roles a couple times for the larger battles.

I'm out of town this weekend so won't be able to play the game anymore until next week; hopefully I can come back here and state that I was proved wrong with my current thoughts on the game and just the start of the game is boring.

Well that is exactly what I expected to hear Eadwyn. Sadly I've been disappointed by every one of these games since FF9. And my problem can be pretty well summed up by what you said here.

I'll still probably give it a go after my brother finishes it, but I haven't felt excited about new FF games in awhile.

Oh definitely, I still recommend picking up the game, just know that it won't be anything spectacular that will down the road make you want to replay it.

I'm now at 30+ hours into the game and my sentiments are the same, although the battle system has grown on me even though it is incredibly simple. I highly recommend picking up the game if you are even remotely interested in the game because even though it doesn't live fully up to the FF name it is still much better than most of the crap out in the market.

I didn't go afk at all and only grinded for about an hour and it took 24 hours before the game allowed me to pick my own party and 28 hours before the first "open world" area in the game.

It feels like this game has done for the FF series want wow has done over the last few years, and catered to the casual gamer.

It is more a relaxing game, with very , minor difficulties in battle once you get used to the system.

best way i can describe it is , playing through a movie, which was nice to see all the spectacular cut scenes ( There are ALOT!)

I currently made it to Chp 11 , going to grind out all the side quests cause i am a Lore Whore. and really enjoying the storyline.

I recommend to either rent it if you have about a week to seriously dedicate to this ( if you want to do everything) or get it and as soon as you beat it trade it in for the next thing, as for replay value it doesn't have much
Remember when Arguing with an idiot, make sure he/she is not doing the same.
